Open Heart, Open Mind, Sound Body
:: Mission and Principals
Founder Fred Tranfield developed SaundaryaYoga from a synthesis of study with various masters over a ten year period. SaundaryaYoga is a zealous but non-dogmatic style that seeks to elevate students' potential for living a balanced life. A student dedicated to the way of SaundaryaYoga will create an Open Heart (freedom from fear), an Open Mind (freedom from shame), and a Sound Body by embodying the three core principals of Curiousity, Humility, and Trust.
:: Life Tends to Put Us Off Balance
Yoga is the practice of getting back into balance. When we are overtired a yoga practice gives us a place to rest. When we are stressed our bodies get weak and the yoga practice helps us restore our strength. When our minds are too busy yoga helps us find stillness.
:: About Healing
Many yoga students come to yoga because their bodies hurt. In yoga we teach students how to breath again and use their body in a balanced way. Old pains can be replaced by a healthier body and mind.
:: Yoga is about Developing Focus
School age students who practice yoga can get better grades, athletes who practice yoga can can perform better, and even actors have found out how a regular yoga practice can improve their performance.
:: Building Harmony
Ultimately the practice of yoga is meant to quiet the busy mind. Once our bodies are healthy and balanced we can focus our minds. A focused mind can be a quiet mind. This is the harmony we look for in the yoga practice.

"Undisturbed calmness of mind is attained by cultivating friendliness toward the happy, compassion for the unhappy, delight in the virtuous, and indifference toward the wicked. "
